Farming Matters

A shared teaching resource for students on agriculture and related degrees

Farming Matters is a peer-reviewed, free and accessible module that introduces students, wherever they are studying, to the critical role agriculture plays in the modern world.

The content for Farming Matters was developed by subject specialists from across AUC member universities and then transformed by TIAH (The Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture) into an interactive online course.

There are six units which can be taken individually, or all together which will take roughly 90 minutes.

Farming Matters Units:

  1. Agriculture matters - a lot!

  2. Integrating agriculture and the environment

  3. Technology and innovation in agriculture

  4. Healthy soils for sustainable agriculture

  5. Nutrition and health

  6. An outline of agricultural policy

To access the module, students need to register for a free TIAH account. The same account will also give them access to all of TIAH's free courses in subjects such as farm safety and animal health and welfare.
